The Director of Talent & Learning will drive talent growth through consultative coaching, strategic analysis, and mentoring/training leaders to recruit and retain top talent. This role will act as a pivotal business partner and talent authority – aligning the best possible talent in the field where the most opportunity for the facility exists. The Director of Talent & Learning will consult with the Director of Nursing, Administrator, and Corporate Recruiter to identify staffing opportunities and learning priorities, then track progress on meeting those hiring metrics.
The Director of Talent & Learning will support managers and leaders responsible for teams to accelerate through transitions, build team excellence, resolve team conflicts, and enable cross-team collaboration across challenging, diverse organizational boundaries.
The Director Talent & Learning will ensure competent and appropriate staffing to meet the needs of the residents. The Director of Talent and learning will cover a range of education including orientation, on-going in-service training, and training for customer service. This role will motivate and develop team members to achieve high levels of quality, innovation, and personal achievement.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree preferred (but not required) in Education, Instructional Design, Learning & Organizational Development, or related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
Relevant Experience: Requires experience in some combination of organizational development, talent development, coaching, experiential learning, practical team interventions, instructional design and/or talent management.
Ability to Lead: Able to manage people leaders with direct reports in performance objectives and development targets. Must be able to drive team and departmental engagement.
Thought Leadership and Influencing Skills: Able to work cross functionally at all levels of the organization and manage / prioritize multiple tasks on tight deadlines. Strong project management, strategic communications and/or change leadership skills are extremely important.
Critical Thinking & Business Acumen: Superior analytical skills, strong judgment, curious around the right questions, can quickly understand where and how an organization creates value. Able to identify insights that lead the organization to better understanding of opportunities or risks.
Ability to Work High & Low: Able to think strategically, but also with the ability to roll up the sleeves to ensure quality care is delivered and processes are improved.
Communication: Excellent communications and presentation skills, both written and verbal, including confidence and presence to engage effectively with management. Must be a positive change agent and influence at all levels. Must be able to articulate how learning and development efforts drive company growth and enable cost efficiencies.
Technical Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel.
Organization: Manage multiple projects simultaneously while creating a pipeline of opportunity for Project Managers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative Functions
Complete in timely fashion necessary nursing department employee records upon hiring, job reclassification and discharge.
Complete and post work sheets/time schedules. Coordinate variances with the Director of Nursing.
Answer employee calls regarding staffing/scheduling functions. Prepare written correspondence as necessary.
Answer applicant calls regarding position availability and coordinate interviews as deemed appropriate.
Consult with nursing department staff and supervisors concerning the staffing/scheduling needs: to assist in elimination/correction of problem areas, and/or improvement of services.
Review complaints and grievances pertinent to scheduling and staffing. Make necessary oral/written reports to the Director of Nursing.
Personnel Functions
Assist in interviewing CNAs when requested.
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
Assist in recordkeeping and documentation of attendance and tardiness for employee performance appraisals.
Confirm license/certification and current standing with state approved agencies for all new hires prior to orientation date.
Assist with maintaining records of current certifications/licenses for nursing department employees.
Staff Development
Provide each newly hired nursing personnel with orientation schedule and provide orientation.
Facilitate quality orientation program by communicating new hire orientation schedule to facility personnel who will participate in orientation.
Assist in recordkeeping and documentation of attendance and tardiness for employee performance appraisals.
Conduct daily follow up with new hires during the orientation process to ensure smooth on boarding process.
Attend in-service training programs as scheduled.
Assist with recordkeeping for facility in-service education, and orientation classes for newly hired personnel.
Develop motivational and retention programs/contests to ensure team member engagement.
