RESPIRATORY THERAPIST

Job Responsibilities / Position Information for the Respiratory Therapist include:

  • Competent and proficient in the delivery of all Respiratory Care procedures outlined in the institutional and departmental manual.
  • Administer medications and provide treatment to the resident based on the physician orders.
  • Must be able to identify changes in the resident’s condition and evaluate the resident’s respiratory requirements.
  • Strong focus assessment skills as well as detailed documentation proficiency is a must.
  • Must be able to evaluate and participate in the development of the Resident Plan of Care.
  • Respiratory therapist must be able to conduct and prescribe treatments of a routine nature which include suctioning, trach dressing change, Passy-Murie Valve education, CPAP and BIPAP set up with monitoring, and other modalities associated with respiratory care.
  • Must be able to make appropriate recommendations for changes or modification for interdisciplinary patient therapy.
  • Orientate and in-service with a detailed skill check off, all new employees, nursing staff, and others on the departmental standards of respiratory care.
  • Must be competent and able to take a lead during Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.
  • Must be able to push, pull, moved and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

Knowledge / Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience

Licensure / Certifications:

  • Current Respiratory Therapist license
  • ACLS
